Internet Safety PSA

During the preproduction of our PSA we had an idea on how to portray how easy it is to get caught attention by an online predator. Although, we were not able to match our final product with the preproduction due to the lack of actors and the ability to convey a believable situation, we also had problems with meetups for filming as some of us were not able to make it so we had to do what we could with the little footage we had. During editing, while messing around with different music, we came to find that the use of a particular song can change the way the film can be interpreted. Through, this we were able to pull of a product that was able to deliver the point of the film.

Digital Collage Critique

I. Theme/ story line/ Ideas-

The story I was trying to tell in my image was inspired by an anime called "Attack on Titan". Images I used was stills from the show.

II. Layers selections-

The layers I used were the stills from the anime, duplicates of the background to add illusion and depth. Challenges I had with editing the layers was trying to delete the edges of the cables to make it seem as the head came behind but the cables were too thin to erase.

III. Foreground/mid-ground/ background-

The depth I added in the picture was to include the head and person flying towards it behind the cables and building. The foreground was already there in the original background and I added myself in the mid-ground of the picture.

IV. Filters/effects/layer modes-

Filters and effects I used in the collage were to add shadows that would blend in the ground as well as the lighting on my figure which made it look like I was in the street with everyone else.

V. Text and Picture of Self-

I incorporated myself in the image as a bystander in the street pointing at the "titan".

VI. Overal Evaluation of the Piece-

I think that during the course of doing this project, my creativity increased as I started thinking of ideas for what I'd like on my collage. What I like best about this project is that there isn't much restriction as to what to create.

My Top 3 Movies

I have yet to find an actual favorite movie since I've seen and liked so many, so I'll just put down the ones that made it to the top in my opinion. This list is in no order, just the movies that pop up in my head as I type this. You may not of heard of these movies as I am in love with international films. As well as those that were imported and published here.

Howl's Moving Castle.

This movie was directed by Hayao Miyazaki and is a Japanese animated film made in 2004. This is known as one of Ghibili's/ Miyazaki's masterpiece. I've always find myself coming back to this movie whenever I had the time to do so. Out of all the Studio Ghibili's movies I'd say this one is the best. If you've never seen one of their masterpieces I suggest you do so now.

 The Host

An international korean horror film in 2006. Even though this movie is in the horror genre I found it quite hilarious, with the main character's clumsiness avoiding this huge monster that attacks. It's about a family running away from a monster generic but it gets to be in my top 3 obviously.

Cowboy Bebop: The Movie

This here movie is what turned me into an anime enthusiast. Cowboy Bebop basically helped grow the anime audience in America as well as casting the perfect voice actors for this series. It's action packed scenes and engaging plot made this a great start for those interested in the anime genre. This movie was based on the running t.v. series.

What Makes a Great Movie?

Character Development

What I feel that makes a great movie is the character development that creates a bond with the audience, watching the character as he/she changes through the movie by their actions. For example, in the movie My Way(2011), a korean war movie set during WWII, the character Jong-Dae starts off as the protagonist’s clumsy best friend during the course of the movie they are forced to go to war. After a series of events Jong-Dae becomes a colonel of the Soviet Union and his hatred of Japs causes him to become heartless from a once comical personality, which I saw was a drastic change in character and what made this a pretty good movie.

Special Effects

What also makes a great movie is the amazing visual effects used to dramatize action scenes and key events. For example, a great movie that makes use of VFX, Inception(2010) uses vfx to visualize the subconscious mind showing how the world can change.
making it visually stunning and let’s the audience be more engaged in the film.

Script/Acting

The script is very important to making a great movie, by getting to know the characters as well as keeping the plot fresh and thrilling. Actors and actresses make the film come to life and may possibly cause tears to one's eyes. A great example of acting that I'd choose would be from The Great Dictator(1940) Charlie Chaplin does an amazing job in this specific scene, where he gives a speech. This speech captivates the audience and is one of his greatest performance as an actor. This is just breathtaking.
