My Top 3 Movies

I have yet to find an actual favorite movie since I've seen and liked so many, so I'll just put down the ones that made it to the top in my opinion. This list is in no order, just the movies that pop up in my head as I type this. You may not of heard of these movies as I am in love with international films. As well as those that were imported and published here.

Howl's Moving Castle.

This movie was directed by Hayao Miyazaki and is a Japanese animated film made in 2004. This is known as one of Ghibili's/ Miyazaki's masterpiece. I've always find myself coming back to this movie whenever I had the time to do so. Out of all the Studio Ghibili's movies I'd say this one is the best. If you've never seen one of their masterpieces I suggest you do so now.

 The Host

An international korean horror film in 2006. Even though this movie is in the horror genre I found it quite hilarious, with the main character's clumsiness avoiding this huge monster that attacks. It's about a family running away from a monster generic but it gets to be in my top 3 obviously.

Cowboy Bebop: The Movie

This here movie is what turned me into an anime enthusiast. Cowboy Bebop basically helped grow the anime audience in America as well as casting the perfect voice actors for this series. It's action packed scenes and engaging plot made this a great start for those interested in the anime genre. This movie was based on the running t.v. series.

What Makes a Great Movie?

Character Development

What I feel that makes a great movie is the character development that creates a bond with the audience, watching the character as he/she changes through the movie by their actions. For example, in the movie My Way(2011), a korean war movie set during WWII, the character Jong-Dae starts off as the protagonist’s clumsy best friend during the course of the movie they are forced to go to war. After a series of events Jong-Dae becomes a colonel of the Soviet Union and his hatred of Japs causes him to become heartless from a once comical personality, which I saw was a drastic change in character and what made this a pretty good movie.

Special Effects

What also makes a great movie is the amazing visual effects used to dramatize action scenes and key events. For example, a great movie that makes use of VFX, Inception(2010) uses vfx to visualize the subconscious mind showing how the world can change.
making it visually stunning and let’s the audience be more engaged in the film.

Script/Acting

The script is very important to making a great movie, by getting to know the characters as well as keeping the plot fresh and thrilling. Actors and actresses make the film come to life and may possibly cause tears to one's eyes. A great example of acting that I'd choose would be from The Great Dictator(1940) Charlie Chaplin does an amazing job in this specific scene, where he gives a speech. This speech captivates the audience and is one of his greatest performance as an actor. This is just breathtaking.
